More things this week. I’ve been tweaking pieces of the overall flow to make the Season Mode experience better. After a game, you see the sports pages to show you the current rankings and the news for the current event in the queue.
The Sports Pages now give dynamic updates throughout the season. Creating a function to word wrap the sprite text was a bit of extra work, but allows for things like printing the player’s team name in the news text, even if the length of that will depend on what city and team you are. The text cuts off automatically, so I never have to worry too much about how it will wrap or word count. This news text is mostly fluff, but it serves to highlight important games, provide hints or clues, and sometimes just to fill some space.
Another minor update here is greying out the disqualified teams in the semifinals & finals.
Get Trophed
Doing the basic endings opened the door for the other cut scenes needed for Season Mode, so I’ve started with the Trophies. These are awarded for exceptional sportsitude and also SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS. So if you do everything correctly to SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS then the next trophy is awarded. However, SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS as well.
