Tipping Goat Goes to E3 2014 – Part 2

With Nintendo right next to the Oculus booth again (they were next to Oculus at GDC this year as well) I had to check up on the big N.

No surprise here!
Super Smash Bros.

Half the Nintendo booth was showing off the new Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. This wasn’t too surprising, but I was surprised to see everyone playing on the beloved Gamecube controller. In an amazing act of fan service, Nintendo is going to sell an adapter so the Gamecube controllers can be used on the Wii U.  There’s also a special Super Smash Bros. controller coming out that is Gamecube-styled.

I’m honestly not a huge SSB player, and with so much of the booth set up for it I didn’t think there was anything for me to see. But then I saw something I’ve been waiting for since 5th grade:

Mario Maker!
Super Mario Bros. Editor!?

Yes, a Super Mario Bros. editor. It was very easy to use, but didn’t look like there was a lot of functionality in it. It didn’t appear you could do much more than you see here, but that alone is probably worth the price of admission for old school Mario fans. Unfortunately it looks like it’s Wii U only at the moment. A 3DS port would be awesome.

More to come in part 3: The Playstationing
